I had the opportunity to visit the IKEA store in Dallas (well, actually, outside Dallas, but close enough). That place is huge. Fortunately, they don't mind if you pause and rest in their many, many chairs. It took us 4 hours to meander through parts of it, and even if I hadn't had to pause often for my knees, we still might have taken close to 3 hours.
While there were some deals there (the holiday clearance was best), I am suffering whiplash between prices I thought excessive and prices that were very cheap. I didn't buy much there: a bottle of elderberry syrup, a Swedish horse cake pan, a set of cookie cutters, and a pair of skinny tongs. I can use all of these at upcoming Celebrations and none are so large they take up a lot of space.
I also bought blue IKEA bags for everyone I know, and will distribute them tomorrow over tamales and refried beans and salad from the garden -we have lettuces, tomatoes (not many, just a few yellow pears - the rest will come from a local greenhouse), radishes, and carrots.
When my knees are healed, I'd like to go back and spend time there really looking at things. I missed seeing a lot because we ran out of time.
