For the Oklahoma Steampunk Exposition in April, I have compiled a book of steampunk tea - recipes, teas, trivia. All it lacks to be complete are photographs.

To that end, I am asking if anyone who lives local to me (the Greater Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area) or will be visiting it would like to attend one or more Steampunk Tea Parties. Since I have to make the tea treats and dirigible devourments anyway to photograph them, I may as well also photograph them being eaten. While I am not requiring guests be dressed in steampunk, I do infinitely prefer it. Anyone who wishes to attend one or more of the Tea Parties and has their photograph taken for the book will receive a free copy of the book.

Since time is short, I will not even attempt to publish this through traditional means but will put it together through Lulu.com. They did an excellent job on our family cookbook and on assorted workbooks and such I have from time to time needed for classes and workshops, so I expect the quality will be equally good on this project.

The photos will be in black and white as color or sepia tones will cost extra - a lot extra. I would have liked sepia, but black and white will look equally well for this book.

The Tea Parties will take place from September through February so I will have plenty of time to upload the book and have Lulu print and ship copies back both to give to my tea party guinea pi guests and to have on hand at the OSE. They will most likely be on weekends as I work full time, but there may be some on week nights.

You may respond in comments here or at FaceBook, or leave me a message, or email me.

I will be posting a calendar of tea parties sometime in August, once I have worked out the logistics and menus. Some tea parties may be scheduled on holiday weekends. None of the teas should take longer than an hour or two, so it shouldn't consume your entire day. Since my house is small, guests will be limited to no more than 6 at a time.

"Tea" may also be a kaffeklatsch or cocoa party, as coffee was the preferred "tea" beverage for Germans and Americans, and cocoa for the French and Spanish, and those are included in the book.

I hope I'm not being too draconian about this....

It should be fun.
