Today is National Junk Food Day.

Most of these articles just had to spoil the fun of the day, but if you don't want to read the sour grapes talk, don't click on any of those links.

My definition of "junk food" is food that hasn't been "healthified" - it is real food that has a bad rap as a diet saboteur. In reality, many of these foods are still good food (chocolate, fried chicken, pizza, potato chips...), but like all food, must be eaten in moderation. Eating an entire family sized bag of potato chips in one sitting is always a bad idea, eating a single serving size of potato chips once in a while isn't going to derail a well-thought-out diet.

I think it's great to designate a day to recognize that even junk food has worth.

I'm not planning on changing how I eat for today, but I will say junk food has been given a bad rap, up to and including its name.
