Over the past 4 months, I have hosted Steampunk Tea Parties. I have also attended regular parties where people have brought tea to share.

I have discovered that even rather dedicated tea enthusiasts make some rather egregious mistakes with tea.

One person set a ceramic teapot on a gas stove to heat water for tea! OMG, I almost died when I saw that!

people who will drink tea need a fun and simple class on the basics of tea.

Therefore, my January Tea will be a combination class and tea party. I am going to invite the people that I think will a) most enjoy it, and b) most need it. Group B is a part of group A, but not all of the people in Group A are in Group B.

The person who tried to boil water in a teapot instead of a teakettle is in both groups, for example, while nearly everyone who has attended my previous Steampunk Teas are all in Group A, but not Group B.

I shall have a judicious mix of both groups , and we'll explore different types of tea from different cultures (Steampunk isn't just Victorian England!), their preparation and serving, and hopefully, along the way, both groups will learn interesting things and Group B will pick up on a few essentials, like the difference between a teapot and a tea kettle.

This Tea will take rather more planning than previous Teas have taken.

It may also have to be a smaller Tea unless I can hold it at some venue other than my small house.

I wonder if I could get a Vo-Tech to let me teach and host a Tea as a class? The only downside to that is that my guests would have to pay to attend...
