I'd like to host a Maker's Tea: a tea where we both enjoy good tea and treats and bring something we're working on or to get ideas for making things or to learn a new craft.

It doesn't have to be steampunk, but steampunk is fun. However, if you'd rather call it industrial chic, or recycled wonders, or repurposing, those work, too.

My workshop/laboratory should be finished soon, the living room is already finished, the kitchen is large and almost re-organized, so there should be plenty of space for nearly anything.

I'd like this to be a monthly thing, too.

To spur me to finish things as quickly as possible, I am going to set a date for December 11th. Since Cookie Day is December 12th, I'll serve small cakes, tarts, and sandwiches (fasting from cookies until Cookie Day), and tea, of course! Since it will be at home and not in a hotel, I can also offer coffee and hot cocoa and even iced tea for those who'd rather.

My workshop/laboratory will have tools, tables, uncomfortable folding chairs (what? Have you ever been in a workshop with cozy, comfy chairs?), how-to books and magazines, sewing machines, and such. Most of my tools are small - jewelry making, clay sculpting, sewing, and general household tools. I do have a jig saw, small electric sander, dremel, and cordless drill, but not any real major power tools. I also have tons and tons of sequins and beads I inherited/appropriated from Mother's estate. I have WiFi so we can search online for instructional videos if we need to.

Since it will be chilly, small projects are best since we'll be limited to the trifecta of kitchen, workshop, living room. The library is currently a storage room and the patio is unprotected and will be cold.

It should be fun.

And if you can't attend my Maker's Tea, perhaps you can host one in your area?
