What's wrong with this sentence? "After the dramatic press conference <http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20018055-503544.html> in which California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman's former housekeeper, Nicky Diaz Santillan, claimed that she wasn't paid her fairly and that Whitman refused help her find an immigration lawyer, the California gubernatorial candidate is caught between the proverbial rock and hard place."

If it scans well to you, then you, too, are part of the grammar problem.

Let's see: Run on, the section "she wasn't paid her fairly and that Whitman" has a "her" that is completely useless and messes up the entire flow, and the parenthetical commas around the housekeeper's name has something wrong with it. I probably wouldn't have used the parenthetical commas.
