My Inner Vulcan Thanks You

For all the people who have responded recently on some very hot topics by complimenting my reasoning and logic and calmness - my inner Vulcan thanks you.

While it's true I'm not Vulcan, or even related to Vulcans (a fictitious species), I am descended from a race that has very Vulcan-like qualities - the Germans. A more stubborn, logical, literal race never existed.

Many come close, but not with the fanatical devotion to reason and logic as the Germans. If you could explain it logical and cover all your bases with well-reasoned thoughts, you could sway them to do anything.

The biggest difference between Germans and Vulcans is passion - the Germans are very passionate when they think they are right or are on the right track.

This passion is both a good thing and a bad thing. It can cause them (us) to switch off any further reasoning and logic, if we are convinced we are right. We will bull ahead down the wrong path until we realize we're wrong, and by then, we're so deeply in the only way out - or so we reason - it to go straight through until we come out on the other side.

We get into a lot of trouble when we do that.

Referencing back to the post on Cognitive distortion, Germans excel at that, too.

I think a lot of Republicans and Midwesterners have German ancestors, so perhaps the serious cognitive distortions they are putting themselves through is not just cultural, but genetic in some mitochondrial way.

Germans are the closest thing to Vulcans on Earth.

I wonder if Vulcans are descended from (created from) Germans? And if so, can they be mislead in the same fashion as Germans?

Now that makes for interesting speculation.
