When you buy a ticket, for a train, bus, plane, or concert, it carries with it the expectation of gaining entrance to the venue for which you bought the ticket. That's part of the price.

Now there's a fee-happy airline that wants to charge you to use the ticket you bought.

That's just wrong.

Just as it's wrong to charge to use the toilets on an airplane because you have nowhere else to go. If you had options on where to toilet yourself, I could see charging for the use of a toilet. After all, there are large cities that have pay toilets, but they don't have just 2 pay toilets for the entire city and everyone has to use just those two toilets. There are options - one could dine in a restaurant and use the toilet facilities for free (usually. I hear some of the finer restaurants have attendants and charge tips and fees for using them), you could seek out a toilet at a mall or shop, or a friend's house, or wait until you got home. On an airplane, you aren't going to be able to deplane mid-flight to seek a different toilet option. Therefore, toilet use is implied in the purchase of the plane ticket.

Just as boarding the plane is implied in the purchase of the ticket. Just as having a seat and seat belt are implied in the purchase of a the ticket. Just as having the oxygen mask is implied in the purchase of the ticket. Just as fuel usage for the plane is implied in the purchase of the ticket. Just as the wages of the pilot, co-pilot, attendants, and ground crews are implied in the purchase of the ticket.

The ticket is a conglomerated fee that provides the purchaser with not only the end product, but all the facilities and employees that allow the purchaser to use that ticket's end product.
