Protected Speech

The important lines here are: "The courts have repeatedly found that profanity, unlike obscenity, is protected speech." [Marieke Tuthill of the ACLU of Pennsylvania]

Obscenity, under the Supreme Court's definition, refers to speech that mainly appeals to the "prurient interest" in sex, according to the ACLU.

There was a Writer's Block yesterday about the government censoring the media. I think we need a Writer's Block about the government censoring the individual.
