I've never had cable TV or satellite TV. Now that we've switched to digital TV, I barely watch it all because digital is so awful. I never was a heavy TV watcher - I liked "Bones", "Numb3rs", various incarnations of "Trek", "Third Rock" (but only the first 2 seasons), "Boston Legal", "Big Bang Theory", "Criminal Minds", and "NCIS" (because I adore Abby). Since they now put those on DVDs, I'd rather wait for each season to appear on DVD and watch them at my leisure. In fact, because so many are on DVD now, I simply rent them from NetFlix and watch what I want when I want. I do wish the instant viewing for NetFlix was available for Linux so I could watch that way instead of waiting for the DVD to arrive in the mail but even that's not a big deal.

I do watch the weather on TV, especially during storm season. Our weather channels here are really good, and I like the street by street forecasting during a storm so I know precisely when to bring the dogs inside and how long I have to protect my gardens. I just wish digital wasn't so horrid. Under analog TV, if I lost the picture I still got sound, and if there was interference, I still could make out most of it through the static or "snow". With digital it's all or nothing and in storms, it most often seems to be nothing.

I really, really dislike digital TV.
