Very rarely do articles like this seem to apply to me, but this one seems to have gotten it right, and not just for boyfriend/girlfriend situations. These things annoy me in everyone - my kids, my sister, my ex... I'd say they annoyed me in my friends, too, but none of my friends are like this. I can pick my friends. And I taught my kids better so they don't do these things anymore now they're adults. My sister and my ex - well, I deal.

There's one other habit that annoys me, a habit I find mostly in my students: being "stood up". They don't show up for class on time or sometimes even at all. Once or twice, especially if it was an emergency, I can understand. But consistently not showing up and not calling to cancel in advance means I drop them as a student and they're lucky if I decide to give them a second chance, but there are no third chances. My time is valuable to me and the effort I put into planning these classes and preparing for them means something more than a shrug and an "I had other things to do" excuse.
