"Life does not have to be perfect to be wonderful"

How many times do we forget this?

Things don't have to go exactly perfect in order for it to still be very special.

One thing that comes to mind that people claim should be utterly perfect is a wedding. And while I'm sure there are weddings that go off without a hitch, I've never been part of or attended one. The difference between the happy weddings and the unhappy ones seems to be how the bride, groom, their families, and the guests deal with glitches.

The point of the wedding is the 5 minute exchange of vows, not all the dressings and furbishments and such, and yet, it is the window dressing of the wedding that causes all the melt-downs, fights, and unhappiness. The best weddings I've been to have been the simplest ones where, when glitches happen, it gets incorporated into the wedding and everyone moves on.

Most things are that way.

So the job you get isn't your dream job. I bet there's something about it that could make you happy if you let it.

So your vacation isn't the perfect one you've dreamed of, it's still a vacation.

Moaning about what "could have been" or comparing what is to what you've built up in your mind is the quickest way to unhappiness.

Take what you have and have fun with it. So you're staycationing instead of heading off to the Bahamas. I bet there are fun and intersting things you didn't know about your city that you can learn - a museum you've never visited, a historical site that you would never have learned about if you'd gone off to the Bahamas, a concert, a poetry slam night, or even a neighborhood BBQ. Maybe you finally get a chance to do some remodeling that will make your every day life much more comfortable or fun.

Every day is an opportunity for joy.

How many of us actually realize that potential?
