Sarah Palin appears to have no testable core conviction except the belief (which none of her defenders denies that she holds, or at least has held and not yet repudiated) that the end of days and the Second Coming will occur in her lifetime. - http://www.newsweek.com/id/222794
I know she probably meant it as "dangerous" and "whistleblower" and expected the term to be used affectionately, but that's not how many Americans are coming to view it. The associations and definitions of "rogue" include scoundrel, shyster, hack, uncontrollable, corrupt, violent, dishonesty, mischief-maker, and aberrant. Palin describes herself as a "rogue" politically and she has certainly proven to be unreliable, uncontrollable, and a mischief-maker. There are hints that she is corrupt and corruptable (awarding state contracts or passing laws that benefit companies she owns or has a personal interest in, using her position for personal gain), and she demonstrated unreliability by not completing her term as governor. She's proved herself to be dishonest in print (her book - I was allowed to read an advance copy). She's proven herself a troll by twisting other people's words and actions, plucking out the worst possible interpretation and trumpeting that as the only possible interpretation (the "death panels" is only one example of such behavior). She is definitely a rogue, and not in a positive or affectionate manner.
They shoot rogue elephants. What can we do with rogue politicians?
My recommendation is to move reports of her and her actions from the political pages and place them on the gossip pages or the entertainment pages. Her loose cannon, uncontrollable, and often incoherent actions and verbiage are better suited to the National Enquirer than the Washington Post. The Onion and Saturday Night Live can't satirize her - she does that so well herself. Let us be entertained by her. Perhaps one day, we may even view her with the affection she apparently craves from her self-referential comments of being just a "hockey mom" and "rogue".
