It's been sleeting since 1:00 am and the roads are coated with a thick layer of ice.
As "essential personnel", I still have to be at work.
Since I live where ice and snow are rare (probably about a week total throughout the winter), buying special ice and snow tires or even chains is much more hassle and expense than it's worth. I usually have to be at work before the sanding trucks get out to sand the roads, so driving in to work is always tricky.
Last fall, I heard about a product that you spray onto your car tires to increase traction and thought I'd give it a try. At the worst, I'd still slip and slide. At best, I wouldn't slip and slide as much.
I didn't slide or slip once on the more than 10 mile journey to work this morning. So far, I'm pleased with it. We'll see how it works on the trip home this evening when I have to contend with traffic.
